Emmy and Oscar's Lives Were Saved....But at a Tremendous Expense!
Emmy and Oscar were both dumped at a high kill shelter in NW Indiana by their scumbag owner who admitted that he had bred them and sold their puppies and now had no use for them and didn't want them anymore! So they were left at the shelter to die....unless rescue was able to save them! Sadly, a rescue offer did not come, so a decision was made just minutes before they were scheduled to die to pull them to save their lives.
We had them pulled and taken to the vet so that they could be fully vetted and altered. We were then going to place them in paid boarding to buy them some time to find a rescue that still might be able to take them. We are just independent rescuers and hoped to raise enough money through donations to cover these costs.
Upon arriving at the vet, we found out that BOTH Emmy and Oscar were heartworm positive and BOTH needed to be treated for skin conditions. These unexpected extra expenses made for a VERY LARGE vet bill totalling over $1,000 for the both of them!!!
They are also going to have to be placed in paid boarding until a rescue is able to take them....thankfully we have found one, but they are unable to take them for 2 more weeks...which means $200 more for boarding.
We have already collected some donations for the vet bill, but are still a LONG way from being able to pay for it all or for any of the boarding costs. We try to do whatever we can to make sure that no adoptable dog gets left behind to die at the NW Indiana shelter....and sometimes that means ALOT of money out of our pockets...so we could sure use some help with these guys :)
